Abstract
A fluorescent probe based on a quinolone scaffold was investigated as selective fluorescent copper ion probes under aqueous environment. The fluorescence intensity of probe 6 was significantly enhanced in a Cu2+-concentration dependent manner and it can selectively detect Cu2+ among various other metal cations including Zn2+, Hg2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Fe3+, Cd2+ and Pb2+.
